About
I’m aeoncat — a software engineering student building real projects and documenting what I learn. I like simple systems, clean UI, and shipping work that actually runs.
Quick snapshot
- Based in Oklahoma
- Studying Software Engineering at WGU
- Building web apps with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Next.js
- Learning backend fundamentals (APIs, databases, auth)
- Writing as I learn so future-me doesn’t forget
What I’m doing right now
I’m focused on getting consistent reps: shipping small features, improving my fundamentals, and making a portfolio that shows real progress instead of “perfect someday” plans.
- Building and polishing projects that solve real problems
- Practicing clean layouts, responsive design, and accessibility
- Improving my backend skills with PostgreSQL + API routes
- Posting short write-ups about what worked and what didn’t
What I care about
- Clarity: simple beats clever.
- Momentum: shipping beats planning.
- Craft: details matter when they serve the user.
- Truth: I write the messy parts too.
Skills & tools
I’m still learning, but here’s what I’m actively using and improving.
- Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive layouts
- Frameworks: Next.js (learning deeper patterns)
- Backend: Express, REST APIs, PostgreSQL
- Auth: NextAuth (and the concepts behind it)
- Dev tools: Git, GitLab, VS Code
